Cleanwave Foundation

Cleanwave Foundation is a Balearic Islands-based organisation working on the conservation and restoration of land and sea across the Mediterranean. EXA Capital supports its Marine Biodiversity Blocks programme — the first structure of its kind in the Mediterranean, in which each Block represents a tangible seagrass restoration unit backed by long-term monitoring and independent measurement, reporting and verification.

The model is designed to turn marine restoration into a credible, investable asset class rather than a purely philanthropic one: verified ecological outcomes, transparent reporting, and a structure that can scale. The approach follows the principles set out in the Artemis Seagrass Investment Report (2025), which identified Mediterranean seagrass restoration as an emerging investment pathway.

For EXA, the commitment reflects a straightforward conviction — that capital and regeneration are not in tension, and that the discipline the firm applies to industrial turnarounds applies equally to natural systems that need rebuilding.
